Bloody Cover of Polish daily Super Express, the Germans protest
05.06.2008

There has been no competition as yet for the most stupid sports page in the daily press, but there should be one. The papers would compete for the second prize, because Super Express has already won. The daily has published a photo of Beenhakker keeping two heads that have been cut off and are dripping with blood: Michael Ballack's and the trainer's Sebastian Loew's.

The last page of today's Super Express looks like this:
Let's pass it over in silence. The Germans obviously cannot comment as the whole thing has already become an international scandal. But the rivals behave with style. Michael Ballack says: "It happens in football. Well, maybe not that much... It doesn't influence our preparations." Theo Zwanziger, President of German Football Association has been even more polite: "The Polish are our neighbours and friends."
Apparently Leo Beenhakker was the most outraged, when asked to comment by the SID agency (from AFP):"It's shit. You can see on this example how sick some people are. I dissociate myself from this absolutely."
We were not fond of German sense of humour and the stolen car advert. Now we are looking back on it with envy. It looks like for some people the standard was set too high.
